Revocable Living Trusts

There are a lot of attorneys and financial planners making a lot of money peddling Revocable Living Trusts in New Jersey. They sell you on avoiding probate and tax savings. This rasies two concerns for me, and the NJ Supreme Court.  (1) Unlike Florida and California, the probate process is not a big deal in New Jersey; and (2)  except for very unusual circumstances of which only one* comes immediately to mind, there are NO TAX SAVINGS!  In fact, several attorneys have been disciplined by the NJ Supreme Court Ethics Committee for promoting seminars in which they scare people by saying how difficult and expensive probate can be in New Jersey.

Before you spend a lot of money putting your assets in a Revocable Living Trust, you need to make an appointment with me.  It will cost you a few dollars, but it will be cheap in the long run.

If you own real estate or have other assets out-of-state, you can avoid having to go throught the probate process in more than one state if you put those properties into a living trust.
